Rash Decision

Picking green as vengeance

against a late life strawberry rash.

My backyard crop, a

political substitute for water sucking lawn,

off limits.

The alternative is to wash and bag

each ripe berry as a gift.

Fruitless, or fruitful,

each in my hand.
